 Faculty of Global Studies was founded in 2005.  The faculty specializes in preparing highly qualified specialists in the field of international relations and various aspects of Global Studies – an interdisciplinary scientific knowledge on globalisation and global issues, that integrate approaches and methods of  humanities and natural sciences.

The educational programme is implemented in accordance with the  educational standard of Lomonosov Moscow State University in  "International Relations".

Qualifications – Bachelor and Master of International Relations with in-depth knowledge of foreign languages

The faculty includes 3 Chairs: Chair of Globalistics (coordinated by professor Ilya V.Ilin), Chair of Geopolitics (coordinated by professor Igor I. Abylgaziev),  UNESCO Chair on Global Problems (coordinated by professor Yury N. Sayamov) and Centre for innovative educational technologies.

FACULTY PROGRAMMES

Academics
Faculty tuition is based on classical university tradition and international experience in training specialists in the field of international political and economic relations, global and regional political, economic and socio-natural processes.

Teaching is provided by in-house department members and leading professors of Moscow State University, guest lecturers from the Russian Academy for Foreign Trade, Moscow State Institute of International Relations (University), the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Institutes of Russian Academy of Sciences, professors of foreign universities and research institutions, as well as employees of public authorities, Russian and international corporations, diplomats of consular services of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Third and fourth-year students are offered to gain work experience at the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, the Central Bank and other federal governing bodies, as well as in relevant State Duma committees, the Federation Council of Russia, research and development departments of the Academy of Sciences, branches of international organisations in Russia, etc.

Best students can participate in international conferences and students’ exchange programmes in leading universities and scientific centers worldwide.

Department of Geopolitics and diplomacy prepares specialists in the field of general problems of international relations and world politics, global political processes and the practical aspects of diplomatic service. Department prepares  political analysts and consultants for international organisations and the government of the Russian Federation and experts in the sphere of relations of the Russian and international business with the government, and political support of entrepreneurial  activity.

The list of subjects of specialization within the department include: public service, state protocol and etiquette of diplomacy and international business, diplomatic service of foreign states, international organisations, intercultural and interethnic relations, public speaking, political analysis and political technologies, political and economic lobbying, political regulation of economic processes, the process of foreign policy decision in the Russian Federation, the practice of diplomatic and consular service, image-making of a politician, etc.

Department of the global economy and management focuses on training highly qualified specialists who combine fundamental knowledge in the field of international relations professional with a deep study of the processes in the global economy and economic policies of individual countries and regions. During training, students master the methods of analysis of trends in the global economy, the situation in world commodity markets, ways to enhance competitiveness in the global market, acquire knowledge about the forms of foreign trade activities and methods of international payments, the integration processes in different regions of the world, international economic and political organisations, technology and tactics of economic negotiations, working with applied econometric methods.

Department trains specialists in the field of foreign trade, international business and international financial relations, analysts and consultants to the international economic organisations and governments of the Russian Federation.

In the list of subjects of specialization within the department include: accounting and analysis, the relationship of the WTO and Russia, government regulation of foreign economic activity, European Integration and Russia, foreign investment, the competitiveness of the global economy, international trade, international economic law, international financial and economic relations and international economic organisations and international integration, international business, global labor market and international migration, tax and taxation, national models of economic development, the foundations of entrepreneurship, strategic management, multinational corporations, project management, management consulting, settlement of international commercial disputes, business ethics, etc.

UNESCO Chair on Global Problems trains specialists in the field of emerging social and ethical issues, particularly the problems of big cities and their populations. The department was founded in 2010 under the agreement signed by UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova and Rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University, academician Viktor A. Sadovnichy.

Center for Innovative Educational Technologies  implements unique game models of various political and economic processes, that significantly increases students’ efficiency in learning  new material and  develops  students’  practical skills.
